DENTAL INSURANCE

We are often asked by our patients, "Your fee for this is over what my insurance company calls 'usual and customary.' Does this mean you are overcharging me?" Insurance companies, on an individual basis, come up with these fees for all dental procedures for a certain geographical region. When our state dental association asks these companies for data to see how the numbers were arrived at and which, if any, dentists were surveyed, they are told that the information is confidential and will not reveal it. The insurance company's only reason for establishing artificially low "reasonable and customary" fees is to cause animosity between the dentist and the patient. It is the insurance company's hope that the dentist will then lower his/her fees so that the company will then have to pay out less money. A dental plan is nothing more than a contract between the employer and the insurance company to partially pay for certain services. Our fees are set the actual costs of doing business in this PARTICULAR OFFICE. Costs can vary from office to office depending on the quality of service, materials used, lab costs, and many other factors. We have never tried to be a dental office for everyone, and by the same token, we have never tried to be the cheapest office. Our fees reflect the quality of service and the care with which it was delivered. As much as we love seeing new patients, if price is your only concern when choosing a dentist, then our office my not the the right one for you.

87 Million Americans snore, so you are not alone, however, you could be in danger. 40 million Americans are chronic sufferers of sleep disorders, but only 10% have been treated or diagnosed. Snoring occurs when the airway or passage through which you breathe becomes partially blocked. This happens when your tongue falls back as you drift off into deeper sleep. After an initial consultation and evaluating your symptoms we would refer you to a sleep center for a sleep study. If you are a candidate, we would then fabricate a custom intraoral sleep appliance . This appliance consists of upper and lower dental plates with a unique patented fin-coupling component, allowing you to open and close your mouth. Compared to the CPAP machine, the intraoral sleep appliance travels well, is free from attachments, makes no noise, does not require electricity, does not limit sleep positions and does not require any cumbersome head gear. Most medical insurance companies will cover a portion of the appliance, if so we will be more than happy to provide you with the necessary paperwork needed for you to file. NEW OFFICE

We are happy to announce that construction for our new office will begin in early April! They have broken ground and are clearing a large 8 acre lot at 3620 Williams Dr directly across from our current office. Our new neighbors in this new community which is appropriately named Sonrisa (Spanish for "smile") will include an oral surgeon, an orthodontist and an endodontist. We will begin adding pictures to our blog at a later date to keep our wonderful patients updated on the development of our building.
